Cambridge’s newest playground has opened at the Avantidrome. The Perry Playground opened to the public on January 9th and has already proven to be a very popular addition to the site’s cycling facilities.

2 months shy of its third anniversary when the facility was officially opened by their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Avantidrome continues to offer so much more than just a place for elite athletes to train.

Avantidrome’s Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Andrea Woodford says “We are always looking at new initiatives to encourage participation of the wider community in healthy activities and now there’s another great reason for families to enjoy the facilities in and around the Avantidrome. The recent addition of the Perry Playground complements the Gallagher Bike Skills Park, Perry Mountain Bike Trail and Te Awa River Ride, all free activities for the community to enjoy alongside the Avantidrome.”

According to one 6 year old it’s the best playground she’s ever been to! The playground comes equipped with;

  • Swings
  • Climbing Wall
  • Tube slide
  • Monkey Bars
  • Flying Fox
  • Lullaby swing basket
  • Wobbly log bridge
  • Stepping logs
  • Log rocking seesaw
  • Play tunnels
  • Spinner

And picnic tables and park benches for parents to sit on too!

Supporters of the playground include the Brian Perry Charitable Trust, the Skeet Trust, St Peter’s Cambridge, the Avantidrome and Playground Creations.
