New General Manager for the Home of Cycling

The Board of the Home of Cycling Charitable Trust have appointed Scott Gemmill as the new General Manager for the Home of Cycling, commencing 9 July. Scott takes over from Cycling New Zealand as earlier advised on 19 March.

Scott’s appointment follows a rigorous recruitment process where a large number of quality candidates were considered. He is a keen cyclist and has been involved with the Avantidrome for several years, previously as part of the Programs and Competition Working Group.

Scott adds, “The Home of Cycling is a unique facility that combines an internationally renowned centre of excellence in sport with community outreach initiatives that are transformative. The staff, volunteers, sponsors and stakeholders have created an ethos that is distinctive. I look forward to contributing to the ongoing success story at the Home of Cycling.”

With a background in management and customer strategies, Scott will be a real asset to the Home of Cycling and we are fortunate to attract a General Manager with his experience and passion for the Avantidrome and all it can offer to both the Waikato and NZ. His background includes working for well-known companies such as Z Energy, Fonterra and Port of Tauranga with time spent in customer engagement, consulting, technology, leadership development and media.

We are excited by this appointment and are looking forward to yet another phase of the Avantidrome’s growth and development. The Trust would once again like to sincerely thank the staff of Cycling New Zealand for all their hard work. Cycling New Zealand will continue working very closely with the Trust over the coming months to ensure a seamless transition for Scott into the General Manager role.
