Cambridge Sprint Wars

With Olympic year in full swing and our sprinters ranked number one in the world, the Avantidrome team think there’s no better time to get our local sprinters in to race New Zealand’s up and coming and current sprinters on our home turf.

The Avantidrome are hosting a three event Sprint Wars series which take place on:

  • Sunday 24 April
  • Sunday 22 May
  • Saturday 18 June

The event costs $20 and is open to all CNZ licenced and Avantidrome accredited riders. The Sprint Wars kick off at 12 (noon) and wraps up at 4pm on each of the above dates.

An example of the proposed format will be:

  • 200TT which will rank the riders through 1 to 24.
  • Round 1 – 1st rides 4th, 2nd rides 3rd within each group. Winners qualify for the finals.
  • Finals: Best of three with winners and losers from round 1 will ride off against each other.
  • There will also be 1 round of Keirin with riders grouped by TT result – 6 riders per heat.

There is a limited field of 24 riders so get in quick! Each rider is guaranteed of racing a TT, three sprints and a keirin. You can book online through our track schedule.
